The drilling line which is a wire-rope is reeled up on the Drawworks drum and goes down to the traveling blocks and crown block. Drawworks is found in drilling rigs (which are usually skid mounted), and workover & servicing rigs (which are Drawworks that are normally mounted on the backs of trucks). Drawworks comes in many variations to suit your needs including AC, DC, or mechanical.
